The latest research on reiki
The Center for Reiki Research (CRR) is a non-profit organization with the goal of validating Reiki as an integrative therapy through rigorous scientific study.
The CRR provides resources like the "Touchstone Process" for evaluating research, and hosts conferences to promote the acceptance and use of Reiki in medicine, in addition to helping establish Reiki programs in healthcare settings.
All CRR studies use scientific methods, and are published in leading peer-reviewed journals, such as The Journal of Integrative and Complementary Medicine, which provides scientific research for the evaluation and integration of complementary and integrative medicine into mainstream medical practice.
One noteworthy study was conducted by Natalie L. Dryer, Ann L. Baldwin, and William L. Rand from 2015 - 2016 at Harvard University.
This was a largescale (N = 1411) pragmatic study of Reiki for physical and mental health symptoms, including but not limited to, pain, fatigue, anxiety, depression, and wellbeing. The study concluded that All symptoms were significantly improved following a single Reiki session.
The CCR is currently collaborating with Reiki Medic-Care, a non-profit organization in the UK, to conduct a single arm pilot trial of remote Reiki for healthcare professionals (physicians, nurses, and ambulance paramedics) whose physical and/or mental health had been negatively impacted by COVID-19.
